Background
Originally a native of Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C., Dr. Bloom developed a love of art from his parents and a passion for science from his dedicated teachers. As a child, he was torn between becoming an engineer, artist, or doctor until he realized that orthodontics would be the perfect combination of all his talents and interests.

Dr. James Bloom graduated from Brigham Young University in 2007, where he was only one of five students to complete the challenging coursework required for a Bachelor of Science degree in biophysics. Upon graduation, he attended the prestigious University of Maryland School of Dentistry where he earned his professional doctorate degree in dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Bloom received a scholarship from the National Health Service Corps, a highly competitive award given to only 10% of all applicants nationally. Following dental school, he spent the next four years working as a general dentist in Fort Myers, Florida where he provided comprehensive dental treatment for patients in economically disadvantaged areas.
Although he enjoyed his time as a family dentist, Dr. Bloom’s true passion was always in orthodontics and creating confident smiles for patients of all ages. He completed his specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During his training, Dr. Bloom completed his research thesis on 3D printing and its unique applications in orthodontics, which earned him a research award from the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Bloom then completed the rigorous coursework necessary to earn his board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics, an achievement that is surprisingly uncommon.

When Dr. Bloom is not creating beautiful smiles, he can be found sculpting other pieces of art out of clay, sand or even pumpkin! He also enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Amy, and their three energetic kids. As a family, the Blooms enjoy spending time together hiking, camping, watching movies, playing soccer or discovering new places to explore in beautiful Colorado.
